Common Hornbeam (Carpinus betulus)

The Common Hornbeam (Carpinus betulus) is a broadleaf deciduous  tree with a well-developed root system, which makes it resistant to adverse weather conditions. The optimum growth of the common hornbeam is in sandy grey forest soils of moderate humidity.

The Common Hornbeam is used in forestry and park development. Its wood is greatly valued as it is used for making boards in the furniture production.

The sowing material is dry. Seeds are dried in hermetically sealed containers for a period of 10 years at temperatures of 0°С to -10°С.
